about

An entirely true story and the only track recorded outside of my first apartment in PDX. The true outro of the song repeats "Don't lie. I drive West," but a broken elbow stopped me from being able to make that track that way. This is one of the first completed versions I recorded near the end of July. A fan oscillates in the background.

lyrics

It's the last Friday
Before my big move
You call me up and I know
This could be my last chance
To see you

You're in town for one more night
You leave at first light

"Don't lie," I cry
As I drive West
"This is goodbye."
I drive.

It's my last Friday,
And I'm trying to see you one more time
I feel my soul drop out beneath me
As I read the road closure sign

It's the only paved high way
Between you and me

"Don't lie," I cry
As I drive West
"This is goodbye."
I drive.

It's my last Friday,
And I make my own way
Drive my Fiat fifty miles down
Gravel high way

The more time that I spend driving
The more the end point moves away
Some kind of optical illusion
At the end of a very long day

"Don't lie," I cry
As I drive West.
"This is goodbye."
I drive.

"Don't lie," I cry
As I drive West.
"This is goodbye."
I drive.
